Not So Happy New Year

Hibs conceded four as the Swiss did the double over the greens who managed goals from An-Rui and Dan. Hibs started this game well and showed positive intentions throughout the first half despite a little expected rustiness. The Swiss looked to counter and looked threatening in doing so. Jamie was harshly adjudged to have taken out the Swiss forward when it seemed the cross had missed him and the boy just stopped leaving Jamie no where to go. 1-0 to the Swiss. Hibs were causing their own problems and starting Swiss counter attacks by surrounding the ball with men upfield. Jamie conceded a second penalty despite tackling and the ball went out for a corner. No. Penalty. The Swiss guy skied it and on we went to get an equaliser straight out of the water break. Dan linked well with An-rui who scored his first of the season with a neat finish. Hibs looked the more likely and hit the bar and pressured the nervous keeper. When Rupert eventually arrived at the right ground, he knocked back a header for Dan to smash in for Hibs to lead at half time. The second half was one to forget for Hibs. Spaces opened up for the Swiss to exploit on the counter and they often had too much pace as legs tired. The Swiss equalised from a corner and then made it 3-2 when Alex was beaten to the ball as he rushed out and it was a good finish. Hibs laboured and came up with nothing of note and were punished one final time on the break. mom for the Swiss: Torrades Hibs: Ishaan Misra

Happy New Year and good start for Swiss

The Christmas cakes & tarts during the festive season was the perfect medication to forget the 1st Half of the season ! Despite our goalkeeper unable to show up & again, a lack of squad depth, Swiss welcomed 3 new players on their debut, while it was good to see Roman back after a 3 month absence. Big thank you Toppher to step in between the sticks !! We started playing our football and trying to impose ourselves. Our pace & combination play involving the front players caused some problems - and we rightly won 2 penalties... Joel managed to convert the first but unfortunately not the second. The game swung a bit towards the Hibs utilizing the strength/Height of their forward. Its no surprise you have problems in defense when you are bottom of the league. Swiss starting this game with the now usual "3 midfielders" in the back four, were caught sleeping to allow Hibs to equalize. Soon Hibs turned the game around after a corner just before Roman's effort was saved off the line. 2-1 Half time and instead of allowing our heads to drop, picked up the tempo and ensured the front 4 had more of the ball. Then we turned it around ourselves with 2 goals from Joel: one brilliant volley from a corner and the 2nd, nice finish from a brilliant pass from debutant Morgan. We secured the win with a fourth, after a quick counter attack, no chance whatsoever if you're up against Dimi ;) 4-2 Nice to win again and hope we can pick up a few more points now.... Squad still being rebuilt but nice to have decent debuts from Sam, Morgan & Quirin. This win was fully deserved and absolutely vital for our self confidence and motivation. Mom - Joel, doing very well leading the front line, and class hat trick (still owe us a round for the 2nd Penalty miss)
