Report

Second FNL game in a row against our old rivals the Lions. We knew the Lions would come into this high on confidence, mainly because they could stop complaining they had enough players each week! (much like us as well come to think of it). The tussles always turn out to be full of physicality, determination and blood but lets stop talking about Ciaran's tickle fights and get back to the game. Rangers started stronger and could have had an early lead with a couple of half chances from corners. The Lions started prowling around and managed to get a stronger foothold in the game, both teams sparring nicely at this stage. The first clear cut chance was finished nicely by Brett when late into the first half a free kick from the right was floated back post for him to get above his man and nod into the bottom corner. As with our character this season we then fought back and equalised on the stroke of half time with Salvo rising, like a salmon chasing an impossible dream, to plant a fine header from Jordans corner. HT: 1-1. The second half was always going to be tight with both teams realising what was at stake. Some nice passages of play from both sides created a couple of half chances but neither keeper was really tested until going in to the final 10. With energy levels dropping, defences holding firm, it seemed a draw was on the cards but Lions didn't think so with one of their subs getting a cheeky little ricochet for the ball to land nicely at his feet inside the box to coolly slot past the despairing Tuomas. Queue scenes of jubilation on the touchline (obviously not from Rangers), and Lions held out to finally beat us. Cracker of a game and think a draw was a fair result but not to be and we go onto Hotspurs in the cup next week on the back of another very good performance all round. Lions have finally got people that can score (!), with some good additions and the team spirit to match, so will definitely be up near the top at the end of season. MOM for Lions: Lloydy played well and Stevie was solid all game, never seems to play bad against us. Could have gone to other players but Stevie gets the sympathy vote. MOM for Rangers: Ryoga - first start for the young lad from Japan and had a very good performance against the leagues top scorer to limit his influence on the game.

The Wolf of Club Street

Is that blood? WTF?! Is that thunder?! WTAF?! What day is it? Is it Friday?! That can only mean one thing!!! Macca is in his sunken jacuzzi-bath in his spare apartment on Club Street at 5pm with a load of Indonesian birds makin' Harvey Weinstein look like a eunuch. He checks his watch? He can't remember the last time he popped a quaalude but his vision is still all blurry and weird so it can't have been that long ago. He necks another just in case and asks one of the birds what time it is and she tells him it's 9pm already. The bath is warm and inviting but now is not the time. Now is the time to get to Turf City for the monumental clash between Gaelic Lions and Rangers, he thinks. He jumps into his Ferrari and drives very carefully to Turf covering one eye at all times. When he gets out of the car he looks at it and miraculously the car is in pristine condition. He gets there just in time for kick-off. He coaches and advises the team from the sideline and all is well with the world. The Lions win 7-0. He is delighted and heads back to his apartment to his harem of birds and another bath. Outside his apartment, his Fiat Uno is absolutely fucked and the actually Lions won 2-1 with a last minute winner from Conor King. Macca smiles to himself, but is very confused.
