Report

Any Swiss team without Tim were going to be a tougher prospect to face. However this wasn’t to be the case today. The Swiss team came up against a very good SCC squad that were keen to impress. 4 goals from Liam before getting hooked at half time, 3 from Hutch, A few each for Kike Father and Son, one for Jack, Rossco and Hulen. Tough result to take for the Swiss who have over the years gave us some extremely tough games. I’m sure they will be back stronger.

After a couple of encouraging performances the Swiss went to Dempsey with (too) many senior players missing. So when SCC showed up with a squad of 20, we knew we were in trouble. Swiss went with a conservative 4-5-1, but a terrible start with 3 goals in the first 15 minutes meant that the contest was over, and we had to resort to damage control. Goals came in regular intervals as SCC played a very impressive passing game with all players constantly on the run. At times, it looked like Swiss were dizzy just following the high tempo passing of SCC. 6:0 at the break and no way back. The second half was more of the same. SCC made five changes but the intensity never dropped. A couple od Swiss players lost their cool for a few minutes. Frustration pure. A gesture of one of our players which we don't condone - just as we don't enjoy mud being thrown at one of our players. Equally poor. The end result was brutal, the young Swiss team was comprehensively outmuscled and outplayed. I guess every player at SCC has to give his very best just to be in the squad again next week. How I wish we had such a luxury problem.... As they say the night is darkest just before dawn, and that is what we hope is the case for the team: we have a whole string of senior players back from injury and travel, so we are confident that we will put points on the board before Christmas.
