On We Go!

With both coaches having to participate in this game via Vikings WhatsApp chat, reporting duties were left in the capable hands of Lightning Leslie. Vikings started out with thunder and lightning dominating the start of the game and going up 4-0 within the first half hour courtesy of a Meli hattrick and one from Maahin. The Japanese kept their fighting spirit going though pulling back a goal to make it 4-1 shortly after Vikings fourth. Some might say the Japanese fighting spirit was a bit too strong as some aggressive challenges resulted in 3 Vikings injuries within the first half as well as a sending off for the Japanese. The second half was far from the pretty play of the first half, blemished by a plethora of free kicks and yellow cards and honestly the match could easily have ended with more red cards than just the one. The Japanese scored a second towards the end of the game, but Vikings pulled through and went away with the 3 points. A great way to send off our teammate Peter “Giraffe” Rasmussen who’s leaving Singapore. A big praise to the officials for not letting a very difficult game get out of hand. Next week sees us take a rest from Cosmo duty and instead enter the first game in the reformatted Cosmo Cup, if we have enough non-injured players that is!

Heads up for the next match

Aiming for 2nd victory in the season, we tried good start in match but in vain. With the strong pressure from the Vikings, we kept losing the ball to give a number of chances to the opponent, which Vikings utilized to score 4 goals almost consecutively. The worse thing is that one of our players received 2nd yellow card afterword, which we believed was not reasonable enough. With 1 less player on the pitch but with harder work, we managed to score 1 goal in the 1st half by Minato. In the second half, the game was more balanced with 1 goal by Seiji, of course with Viking being more relaxing in a way. Congrats to Vikings for the victory, and Nippon only to head up for the next match.
