A frustrating habit

One more time a game of cheap goals conceded despite a strong start. OGS were dominating the midfield creating several occasion and being rewarded Hugo finishing a nice collective move. Latini equalized on a second ball corner kick. However, we felt frustrated as Francois got kicked in the face while trying to head the ball outside of the danger zone. No fault according to the ref… We continued to show good fighting spirit and took the lead again after an clear penalty kick again from Hugo. But again we defensively got naïve an Sharples punished us to arrive at 2-2 at half time. Clearly, the score line should have been different. Second half turned much more difficult. A cheap lost ball in the middle and Latini took the leads. Then 4th goal which clearly should have been disallowed for an obvious offside since no OGS players touched the ball which miraculously found a lone Latini who clinically finished the job. Two referring mistake, two goals…. However, Latini deserves their victory as they continued to punish us by scoring an additional 2 while Jonathan scored his first Cosmo goal. Succession of disappointing results, we really need to react vs FC Nippons who are direct contender in the midlle of the table Farewell Nate and see you in Bangkok and good luck Latini for a deserved title race vs SFC this season!

PART DEUX AND AU REVOIR

Today’s match was our second encounter against the French this season. Tactical Tally had been busy this week and managed to assemble our largest squad of the season so far. We knew that OG would be a good test but we went into the game confident as we had plenty of game changers in our arsenal. The game started in typical Cosmo style with both teams full of energy, pressing well and eager to get the ball forward. OG struck first when their press in midfield was rewarded with regaining possession and Hugo was played through on goal. He got the ball out of his feet and struck well into the bottom corner to make it 1-0. After the water break, 1TM responded through a Dev corner that picked Flat White out at the back post and he dispatched into the roof of the net. 1-1 From here, we thought we would kick on but OG had other ideas and on 27 minutes won a penalty after Hugo was ruled to have been fouled in the box. Hugo finished his pen by picking out the bottom corner. 1-2 Sharples, the first of the game changers, was then introduced and made an immediate impact. Dev the Jav took a quick throw in to Tinks, who then put Sharples in on goal and our No. 9 announced himself back into the fold with a cool finish. 2-2 After half time, Sharples was in amongst the goals again as more good play down our left saw him travel into the OG area and crafted an opportunity to fire past the ‘keeper. 3-2 Tinks got on the scoresheet after a no-look pass from another game changer, Sherlock, which managed to squeeze past the OG defence. Tinks found himself 1v1 and drilled his finish across the goal and into the bottom corner. 4-2 Our fifth came after Digit calmly weaved past two players deep inside our half and laid the ball down the channel to Frando. Frando then set Sharples on his way and he turned provider with a cut back from the touch line for Taishi San to have a simple finish. 5-2 OG closed the gap with a well taken third when their young winger beat POB to a looping ball in the box, but we managed to get a sixth after the ball found it’s way to Tinks just inside the box and he got a decent strike away on the half volley that flew past the ‘keeper. Final score 6-3 A great game of football with lots of chances and played in good spirit by both sets of players. Sadly, we say farewell to Nate who departs for a fresh challenge in Bangkok. As well as just being a great lad, he’s been a key player in the heart of midfield this season. We also wish OG’s Hugo well as he departs Singapore. Hugo chipped in with lots of goals and assists when 1TM won a few of their midweek league titles. Thanks to the entire squad for making a difference this week, the legends & Frando Snr that came down to support, and the officials for their part.
