Friday Night Lights

In a chilly (for Singapore standards) Friday evening game against Swiss at Turf City the Vikings starting in a 3-5-2. The Vikings team gets off to a good start and controls the game during the first half. The Swiss defense and the goal-keeper in particular puts in a great effort and keep the Vikings from scoring the first goal. After 30 minutes Vikings get a free kick outside the Swiss box. Domino kicks, the goalkeeper makes a great save but Simon scores on the rebound, 1-0 Vikings. After the half-time break the goal before the half created additional momentum for the Vikings and US scores another Vikings goal after a Domino assist. We get more space on the wings and the Jesper-Tommie combo converts to 3-0 and 4-0. Just before the final whistle the ball ends up at the feet of Swiss player #5. He hits the ball beautifully into the corner without a chance for Eu Jin, who played another great game and the game finishes 4-1 for Vikings. Great start to the weekend for the Vikings teams. Thanks to the referees, supporters and the Swiss FC team for a fair game. MOM goes to Simon with a landslide victory – and beers for the next game :) MOM for the Swiss #10

Tough times

A much depleted squad against in form Vikings. We tried our best and was positive that no goal conceded in the first 5 mins (compared to previous couple of games). Another makeshift defence today, as usual.... Vikings took the lead after an unnecessary freekick that we conceded. The goal however we felt was offside. We nicked a nice goal in the 2nd half through Ben (maybe goal of the season for us) - screamer from 40 yards. Things are definitely not going our way. Things never go your way when you are bottom of the league. We hope to have a couple of regulars back soon and challenge abit more. Still, great team spirit with 10+ players joining for after game drinks. As of 2am still 7 remain. Where we go next, i cannot disclose. We keep fighting guys! The points will come !!!!
